I saw something that needs explaining.
there is a big pedestrian crossing right across a car park. zebra stripes and everything. then when it hits the footpath you have to do a 90 degree turn and walk around 50 paces before you can use a zebra crossing to get across the road. Needless to say everyone takes the as the crow flies route and tramples the hedgerow.
The garden looks like its been eaten by sheep. why not follow thru.
Ever wondered Why? The League of Common sense is here to save your sanity when you are being bombarded with Political correctness. Has common sense left the building? Out to lunch or out for the count? Let’s fight to bring a little laughter and sanity to a crazy world. Join the League now and be proud to say I belong. For the proponents of common sense in an age when stupidity sometimes disguises itself as political correctness

hole what hole?
It has been raining a bit up here in North Queensland. A salient point when there is road work to be done.
I saw council workers filling in pot holes in the road.
I think they need a lesson. they put wet tar in a hole no problem there but I think to make the repair stick the water should be taken out of the hole first.
What a waste of time and money. And it took around 4 men to make the repair which will be gone by the next rain.
go figure.

greening the country

I saw something that beggars belief. Townsville is noted as the DRY tropics.
We get rain but only in season so... most of the year it is dry. Dusty. brown.
So dry in fact Townsville is nicknames Brownsville.
so what does the Townsville City council do.
They have had the team out laying grass in a culvert. Just one strip mind you next to the drain. Do you thing they prepared the ground? Do you think they installed some sort of watering system for the 9 months of the year when that dirt is dry?
NO
they just layed the squares of turf and walked away.
Then it rained. all good you say. A job well done you might commend the council on the initiative. But the grass wasn't bedded in and it washed away.
Now there is just dirt. Back to square one.
