beware the English language

I was shopping at the supermarket after work and wanting to get home asap.

So I just picked up a few things and headed for the checkout with

"Baskets only" hoping to make a quick break.

It was here in the queue i heard two back packers with thick foreign accents having a debate.

They had their shopping and were confused.

You see they read the sign, 'baskets only' and as they had a green enviro bag didn't know if (in the land of rules and regulations) they were allowed to proceed.

I explained it was how many items in the basket not the actual carry-all that mattered. A basket was implying just a few items.

"this english very confusing," they laughed.

I couldn't agree more.

PARIS HILTON

Paris visited down under the other day and went shopping. She spent a bit by all accounts and had a good trip.

The do gooders said that she should be ashamed of herself for spending so much money. The money she spent could feed an African country.

Well the LCS says if you got it flaunt it. Why not spend your money.

Mr. Rudd has asked us all to spend our money to keep the ecomony afloat. Paris is just doing her bit. The bit that worries the LCS is that the dresses she purchased were probably not made here and only the middle man profit will stay in Australia. If they were Australian productions they someone will say employed for a bit longer.

Don't decry her shopping spree just yet.
