slim pickings

christmas is coming and it seems that the Australians won't be getting fat.
A recent magazine by Bi-lo (a supermarket chain) boasts they can feed a family of 6 for under $50.
sounds fantastic and who wouldn't want to save money but ...
the meals are really small. Don't they know that Australia is the fattest nation on earth. I don't think 160g of salad will serve 8 Aussies. or their advertised one punnet of cherry tomatoes and 100g of spinach leaves will satisfy 6 hungry adults.
And the other side of the story is that by the time you get to the shops the price will probably be up by 10% judging by the price of bananas (which varies day to day)

nice try Bi-Lo, pull the other christmas cracker, it plays jingle bells.

fat busters.

the government is going to try and get parents to take responsibility for their fat offspring.

They envisage the schools sending home notes about kids and their kiojules.

Lighten up or else.

or else what?

How can you regulate what goes in the gaping maw?

is this taking over the responsibility of self a little too far.

a gold medal

The news on the street is that Australia is the fattest nation on the planet.

And to herald this news the news caster instead of being mortified with embarrasment said Australia has a gold medal.

With all the talk of binging, the LCS says how about something on binge eating.

What consitutes a binger, one burger over 500 kj or more than 3 good meals a day.

I can see a t shirt now. A malnourished person dreaming of emigrating to australia to partake of the land of plenty. "I want some of that"

On the other side of the coin

Why do they make all the naughty things taste soooo good?

Perhaps they should bring back the treat. What, in my day was a treat, is an every trip to the supermarket necessity. Chocolate biscuits for all these days.
