take it back

I bought a watermelon the other day. I expected wet sweet melon.
It was tasteless. Nothing but water. SO
I took it back to Woolworths and got my money back.
The women said
"It is only what we can get now the floods are stopping deliveries"
Is this an excuse to put something that is clearly not first class on the shelves.
If it is the scraping of the bottom of the barrel why sell it. I would rather go without than be duped into thinking I'm getting quality.
