It seems on the news there are Australian soldiers who are ashamed to wear their uniform. Not because they feel fashion victims, but because they are not allowed to engage the enemy.
The other countries soldiers consider the Australians the laughing stock. They have guns but they are not encouraged to use them.
And to add to the scene when the soldiers come back home Townsville welcomes them with a parade as "doing their bit" and "heroes".
And why do they go on and overseas posting. Not from any altruistic motives but for a large sum of money that is tax free. Ask any soldier and if he is honest he/she will tell you. This is the story I have been told quite a few times by soldiers.
